LONDON (HedgeWorld.com) – Platinum Capital Management Ltd. received approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore for two more funds, after getting the OK earlier this year to sell two otherhedge funds in Singapore.
The new funds available to Singapore investors are the Platinum All Weather Fund and Platinum Equity Plus Fund. They are expected to be distributed by Singaporean and foreign banks and investment advisers.
Platinum All Weather is a single-manager vehicle with an equity market neutral strategy that includes options overlays. It focuses on achieving consistent monthly returns with low volatility. The other newly approved fund, Platinum Equity Plus, is a multi-manager pool that invests in a diverse range of strategies.
In January 2003, Platinum Washington and Platinum Capital Protected Income Plus (Class A) funds were among the first international hedge funds to be authorized for sale with low minimums to Singapore investors, following the publication of hedge fund guidelines in December 2002.
London-headquartered Platinum Capital has several international affiliates, including one in the United States.
One of the firm’s specialties is developing and distributing structured products based on hedge funds of funds.
