FTSE mulls private equity index for institutions

Forbes – FTSE Group is mulling over a private equity index product to give investors information about ‘credible’ funds at relatively-low risk following the launch of a similar index product for hedge funds.

Gareth Parker, head of business development at FTSE said the agency is developing the project prompted by demand from investors.

‘The issue about hedge funds is poor information and difficulty to invest if you have not a large amount of money. That is exactly the same with private equity,’ Parker said.

He was unable to give a date for the launch. ‘I would hope it would be less than a year,’ he said on the sidelines of The European Pension Investment Forum.
