London Hedge Funds Pass US$225 Billion in 2005: IFSL –

Black Enterprise – Hedge fund assets managed from London grew 18% to US$225 billion, making the U.K. capital one of the industry’s fastest-growing centers, according to the 2006 edition of the International Financial Services, London hedge fund report.

This news came as total global assets in hedge funds grew 13% to US$1.13 trillion – nearly twice the total of three years earlier. The slower growth last year reflected the industry’s bigger scale and the impact of lower returns in 2004 and 2005, the report said.

Within Europe, the data showed that London edged up its share of the hedge fund business by one percentage point, to 75%. London also increased its global share by the same amount to 20%.
