{"id":5437,"date":"2006-12-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-12-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"germany-not-out-to-break-hedge-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.hedgeco.net\/news\/12\/2006\/germany-not-out-to-break-hedge-funds.html","title":{"rendered":"Germany not out to break hedge funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>  <a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~a\/reuters\/UKFundsNews?a=vHgRAZ\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~a\/reuters\/UKFundsNews?i=vHgRAZ\" border=\"0\"><\/a>BERLIN (Reuters) &#8211; Germany aims to  promote hedge fund transparency during its Group of Eight presidency next year but does not expect to draw up any international rules on the issue, a senior Finance Ministry official said on  Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>  Barbara Hendricks, a junior finance minister in Chancellor Angela Merkel&#8217;s ruling coalition, said Germany wanted to look at ways to reduce possible risks to financial market instability with the  initiative, not drive hedge funds out of business.<\/p>\n<p>  &#8220;It is not about smashing hedge funds&#8217; business model, but rather identifying possible risks for the stability of international financial markets,&#8221; Hendricks told Reuters in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>  &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>  Germany takes over the presidency of the Group of Eight (G8) industrial nations for one year from January 1.
