{"id":4648,"date":"2006-06-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-06-27T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"players-sue-nfl-in-hedge-fund-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.hedgeco.net\/news\/06\/2006\/players-sue-nfl-in-hedge-fund-case.html","title":{"rendered":"Players sue NFL in hedge fund case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rocky Mountain News &#8211; Steve Atwater, the former Denver Broncos safety, and others have accused the National Football League and its players association of endorsing a fraudulent hedge fund managerwithout adequate background checks.<\/p>\n<p>  The football players said in a June 23 lawsuit that they relied on the recommendation before parking about $20 million in funds offered by Kirk Wright, head of International Management Associates.<\/p>\n<p>  They said they used the NFL Players Association&#8217;s financial adviser program, created to protect them and the big money they earned against crooked money managers.
