{"id":4640,"date":"2006-06-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-06-26T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T04:00:00","slug":"sec-effort-to-oversee-hedge-funds-cracked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.hedgeco.net\/news\/06\/2006\/sec-effort-to-oversee-hedge-funds-cracked.html","title":{"rendered":"SEC effort to oversee hedge funds cracked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reuters &#8211; U.S. financial regulators took a one-two punch on Friday that might leave their efforts to regulate the $1.3 trillion hedge fund industry in shambles.<\/p>\n<p>  &#8220;The regulatory landscape that the SEC has so carefully cultivated is now seriously in question,&#8221; observed Jedd Wider, a partner at law firm Morgan Lewis.<\/p>\n<p>  The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will now have to go back to drawing board if it truly wants to put a tighter leash on an industry in which assets have doubled in five years.
