WEST PALM BEACH, FL (HEDGECO.NET) – Declaration Management, a unit of John Hancock Financial Services and One Capital Management Partners, is planning to offer hedge funds through a joint partnershipagreement. Declaration Management & Research LLC was founded in 1989 as a specialist money manager under the name JHM Capital Management.<\/p>\n
Declaration was formally known as Independence Fixed Income LLC, but changed its name to Declaration Management & Research LLC. The change was made to acknowledge the separate identities of Independence Investment LLC, an equity firm, and Independence Fixed Income LLC, a bond and structured finance shop.<\/p>\n
Since receiving its first mandate, Declaration has gone on to diversify its client base, adding corporate, public and financial institutional clients. Declaration manages about US$ 9 billion in fixed-income asset. Commenting on the proposed joint alliance with One Capital, the president for Declaration Management, Bill Callan said, \u00c3\u00af\u00c2\u00bf\u00c2\u00bdAlternative investments are a significant initiative for our company and are a direct outgrowth of what we have achieved for our clients in our traditional businesses.\u00c3\u00af\u00c2\u00bf\u00c2\u00bd<\/p>\n

Declaration Management & Research LLC is based in McLean, VA, One Capital Management is a hedge fund manager specializing in single-strategy hedge funds, as well as fund of hedge funds, and the firm is a subsidiary of XL CAPITAL LTD. No further details about the joint hedge fund partnership were immediately provided.<\/p>\n
